President's Report

Hello fellow ICFTN Members,

Do you find yourself grasping for language to explain the benefits of coaching, especially when talking to people who don’t understand what it is that we do? If so, I hope you’ll join me for Jack Phillips’ November luncheon presentation and afternoon workshop. I look forward to learning ways to have Return on Investment conversations with my clients, present and future!

Last month, I had the pleasure of taking a road trip with President-elect Donna Yurdin. We traveled to Knoxville to attend the ICFTN-East subchapter meeting. We felt so welcomed by everyone there. I spoke with several people who shared the vision of creating more synergy between ICFTN and the subchapter. A few months ago Mark Robertson provided East with a presentation and several subchapter members have attended chapter meetings in Nashville. I encourage those of us in Middle Tennessee to be on the lookout for East programs your schedule will allow, and for East members to continue to attend meetings in Nashville when possible. Hint: when several members travel together the time on the road seems to fly by!

In July and August of this year, we piloted a virtual learning course called “The ICFTN Business of Coaching Program.”  We had 18 engaged and involved participants who met for 7 weeks. Everyone received weekly training sessions and coaching support from some of our most experienced coaches. Participants had the opportunity to set goals and meet with a small group of their peers to receive ongoing support. We surveyed the participants to capture ideas for improvements, and also the overall value of the program.  We’re excited to say that, due to the success of the program, we will offer it again in 2019!  Look for more information in the New Year! I would be remiss if I did not take this opportunity to thank Terry Humphrey for designing this wonderful program!

Congratulations are in order! Joanna Williams and Dayle Savage have earned Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credentials! This means they each undertook a rigorous process and have shown to have experience (at least 500 hours of coaching) and a deep understanding of the knowledge and skills important in the practice of coaching. Both accomplished this while serving on the ICFTN board of directors. I hope the next time you see Joanna and Dayle you will take a moment to congratulate them on this huge accomplishment!

The holidays will soon be upon us. I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Thank you for the honor of serving as your chapter president.
